Reward

“To get profit without risk, experience without danger, and reward without work, is as impossible as it is to live without being born.”  AP Gouthey

God gave us Christ freely, but how does He reward us?
Hebrew 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

We have to do something to be rewarded.  Remember the parable of the talents?
Matthew 25:
20The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.'

21"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
