I just finished watching an interview with Robert McChesney on the Now PBS series regarding McChesney's new book The Problem of the Media: US Communication Politics in the Twenty-First Century . When discussing the role of the Internet, McChesney spoke of a coal miner blogging about Iraq as an example of the information one could gain from this new medium. What a poor assessment of the role of blogs. Why did he not talk about the many blogs by US Service men or by other reporters on the ground? The host failed to probe McChesney's simplistic dismissal of the Internet's usefulness.
Open the blinds
the sun's been shining
a long time.
I'll check out the book and see if it is any better.
